Bulldog baseball run-ruled by Vikings

ADA __ The Ada High School baseball team lost to visiting league leader Leipsic 24-1 in a Northwest Conference contest Thursday evening, May 2.

The Vikings scored multiple runs in each inning to post the five-inning win.

The defeat dropped the Bulldog record to 0-11 overall and 0-5 in the NWC. The Vikings improved to 15-1 and 6-0 in the NWC after the win.

Leipsic jumped on top with nine runs before making an out in the top of the first. They added three runs in each of the next two frames. In the fourth, the visitors scored five runs.

In the top of the fifth, the Vikings tacked on four more runs.

Ada scored its lone run in the bottom of the first frame. Junior center fielder Kaine Fisher singled, stole two bases and scored.

Juniors Max Puerto and Ethan Lawrence, and freshman third baseman Blake Zoladz each hit a single to provide the other Bulldog hits.

Viking Nick Schroeder struck out nine over five innings to get the win. He also had three hits and scored five runs. Tyler Offenbacker smacked two doubles and drove in four runs.

Leipsic out-hit Ada, 24-4. The host defense committed four errors, while the Vikings made one miscue.

The Bulldog game at league co-leader Crestview (10-2, 5-0 NWC) Monday, April 29 was suspended in the second inning with the Knights ahead 8-0.  

The Ada game at Fort Jennings Wednesday was canceled due to a Musketeer scheduling conflict.

The Bulldogs entertain Vanlue (1-12) Friday.
