The May 16 meeting of the Ada Schools Board of Education included numerous staffing approvals, an updated financial forecast, commendations for several local businesses and approval of a waiver of school fees for the 2024-2025 school year.

In his report to the board, Ada Elementary Principal Jeremy Clark noted this resignation was on the agenda that evening. Clark has accepted a position with the Bath Local School District. His comments included appreciation for the example set by high school principal Dan Lee and his "100% commitment" to the schools.

Contracts were approved for new hires Chris Sautter, who will teach 5th grade math, and Colton Montgomery, who will teach high school social studies.

Weekend Doctor: Acute vs. chronic pain

By Loreen Morris, APRN-CNP
Certified Nurse Practitioner, Blanchard Valley Pain Management

Pain is a universal human experience, serving as a vital signaling mechanism alerting the body to potential injury or harm. However, not all pain is alike, and understanding the distinction between acute and chronic pain is paramount for effective management and treatment.

Acute Pain
Acute pain is characteristically short-lived, arising suddenly in response to tissue damage or injury. Acute pain serves as a protective mechanism, signaling the body to take action to prevent further harm. Common causes of acute pain include trauma, surgical procedures, burns, cuts, and fractures. The pain is often localized to the area of injury and is characterized by its intensity and sharpness. Acute pain tends to resolve as the underlying cause heals, with a duration typically lasting less than three to six months.

Ada Bulldogs finish 2nd in final NWC season

By Cort Reynolds

COLUMBUS GROVE __  In its season finale on May 16, the Ada High School girls softball team won decisively 7-1 at Columbus Grove to set the program single-season record for victories and also finish 7-1 for the second straight year in Northwest Conference play.

The purple and gold ended the year 18-4 to eclipse the previous mark of 17 wins set by the 2018 district championship squad.

Ada finished second, a game behind league champion Lincolnview (8-0), and came in two games ahead of third-place Crestview (5-3).

Grove dropped to 11-9 overall and 3-4 in the NWC with the defeat.

Ada joins the Blanchard Valley Conference next season. With most of the team returning and the Lancers losing several key seniors, the Bulldogs would likely have been the favorite to win the 2025 NWC title.
