Lots of activities on Ada Kiwanis calendar this fall

President Myrna McCurdy called the 3rd meeting (October 16th) of the 2012–2013 Kiwanis year to order at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 16 at McIntosh Center, ONU.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress. 

The birthday of member was Sharon MacKenzie (October 21st) was noted in song.

Robert White and Ted Kelly, guests of Jeff Schulman were introduced.

The membership anniversaries of Heather Cox   (October. 16, 2007 and Brian Marshall (October 21, 1986) were noted.
In business:

-Members heard an updated financial report from Brian Marshall, club treasurer. He also reported that a few members still have dues outstanding.

-Secretary Brian Myers reported that the Kenton Kiwanis Pancake Day will be held at the Moose on Saturday, October 27th from 7–11 a.m.

-The club will sponsor Crock Pot this afternoon at Restore. Harold Friesner reported that the club will serve sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and sausage.

-The annual Town and Gown Banquet is set for Monday November 5th. Myrna McCurdy is a member of the committee and has nomination forms for Citizen of the Year. Tickets are available. Please contact Bryan Marshall.

-Joe Ferguson reported that the annual Halloween Parade will be held on October 29th. The club will fill candy bags at our October 23rd meeting.  A sign-up for assistance was circulated among the membership.

-The club’s annual spaghetti dinner is scheduled for November 15th at the Ada VFW.

-The next Division 2 Council meeting will be held on October 30th at the St. Mary’s Eagles Lodge. It will begin 5:30 pm. Myrna McCurdy, Jeff Schulman and Jon Umphress are planning to attend.

-Club member Jon Umphress supplied the weekly joke.

-Kiwanis Education Minute: Women were voted into Kiwanis at the International Convention of 1987.

-Something to consider: “Live and learn and Pass it on”

Member Scott Allison presented an interesting Power Point reliving the fire at the Ada First United Methodist Church back in March.
  President McCurdy adjourned the meeting at p.m. p.m.
