Zumberger posted her first double-double

Senior Kelsie Zumberger posted her first double-double of the season, as the Ohio Northern volleyball team defeated Baldwin Wallace by a 25-17, 25-13, 25-17 score Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears are now 18-4 overall and 2-1 in OAC play while the Yellow Jackets fall to 9-14, 1-2.

Zumberger finished with 31 assists and 10 digs.

Freshman Ellie Gillespie led Northern with 15 kills.

The Polar Bears also had five players notch double digits in digs.

Junior Jeni Kmic led the way with 13, while freshman Heather Saunier had 12.

Gillespie had 11 digs with Zumberger and junior Hannah Livengood registering 10 apiece.

Amanda Sawicki led the Yellow Jackets with eight kills.

The Polar Bears used an early 9-2 run to open up a 11-4 lead in Set 1.

Baldwin Wallace would battle back however and tie things at 14-14.

ONU would counter with an 8-1 run to open up a 23-15 lead.

Gillespie would register a kill to give the Polar Bears the first set, 25-17.

Northern would use a 6-0 run early in Set 2 to open up a 10-4 lead, cruising to a 25-13 win.

Set 3 was tight in the beginning with neither team opening more than a two point advantage.

With the score tied at 15-15, the Polar Bears would go on a 6-0 run, thanks to two kills each from junior Julia Fuerst and freshman Kaitlann Hogrefe.

The Polar Bears would win the match on a kill from Zumberger.

ONU had a hitting percentage of .273 while BW hit just .070.

The Polar Bears also registered 49 kills to the Yellow Jackets 27.

Ohio Northern will be in action again on Wednesday when they travel to play against No. 11 Otterbein at 7 pm.
