Bascom named D3soccer.com Forward of the Year; Matejka named to third team

Senior Nate Bascom was named D3soccer.com Forward of the Year in voting conducted by D3soccer.com, sports information directors and coaches.

Bascom was also named to the First Team.

Senior midfielder Chris Matejka was chosen to the Third Team.

Bascom posted a record breaking season, notching 18 assists and 54 points, both new school records.

He also scored 18 goals on the season and was Capital One Academic All-American of the Year.

Bascom concludes his career as ONU's all time points leader with 155 and all-time assists leader with 43.

He scored 56 goals in his career, which is tied for the most in program history with current ONU head coach Brent Ridenour.

Matejka earns his first All-American selection.

He set career high's this season in goals with eight, assists with 10 and points with 26.

Matejka now ranks seventh in school history with 24 assists.

Ohio Northern finished their season with a 25-3 record and advanced to the NCAA III Tournament Championship for the first time in school history.

The Polar Bears also won their second straight OAC Regular Season Championship and third consecutive OAC Tournament Title.
