Seven named Academic All-OAC for women's soccer

The Ohio Northern women's soccer team had seven players earn Academic All-OAC selections for the 2012 season, in voting conducted by the league's 10 faculty advisors.

Senior Paige Garber, senior Lindsay Gilchrist, senior Nicole Grant, senior Tara Tokar, junior Lauren Brown, junior Lauren Zielinski and sophomore Kristina Klusek all earned selections for the Polar Bears.

Garber started in all 23 games for Northern this season. She is majoring in pharmacy and recorded two assists on the year, while anchoring a defense that gave up just 16 goals.

Grant is a four year starter who has a major in biology. This is the second consecutive season the defender has been named Academic All-OAC.

Tokar earns her second straight Academic All-OAC selection. Tokar, who is majoring in pharmacy, started in 22 games this season and posted two goals and three assists on the season.

Brown, a business major, earns her first Academic All-OAC selection. She was second on the team with seven assists this season and was also named CoSIDA Academic All-District.

Zielinski appeared in 17 games for the Polar Bears and recorded two assists. This is the first Academic All-OAC nod for the athletic training major.

Klusek earns her first Academic All-OAC selection after starting in all 23 games for ONU.
Klusek, a nursing major, led the team in goals, assists and points with 14, eight and 36 respectively.

The Polar Bears posted a 13-5-5 record on the season and won the program's first OAC Tournament Championship. The squad also advanced to the second round of the NCAA III Tournament.
