Women's swimming & diving earns share of the OAC regular season championship with victory over Baldwin Wallace

The Ohio Northerns womens swimming & diving team clinched a share of the OAC Regular Season Championship in a 190-103 win over Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.

With the win, ONU stands at 6-5 on the year and 4-1 in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets fall to 4-7, 1-4.

The victory also retains the Golden Kickboard for the Polar Bears.

This is the eighth consecutive OAC Regular Season title for the women's program.

In the 100 yard backstroke, freshman Lindsey Inkrott took first place by a time of 1:02.75.

Junior Lindsey Rayhill earned a first place in the 200 yard butterfly with a time 2:15.38.

Rayhill also took first place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.52.

Freshman Abigail Barlage took first place in the 50 yard freestyle with a final time of 26.12 seconds.

Senior Mackenzie Hoffman took first place in the 100 yard freestyle event with a time of 57.60 seconds.

In the 500 yard freestyle, sophomore Ashley Zoeller earned first place with a time of 5:36.30.

In the relay events, two ONU teams came away with a first place finish.

The tandem of Inkrott, Rayhill, Hoffman and junior Jennifer Hartsel won with a time of 1:55.52 in the 200 medley relay..

The team of Inkrott, Zoeller, Hoffman and senior Sarah Fiffick took first place in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a final time of 3:51.19.

Senior Amy Elmer swept the diving competition by winning both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving events.

Elmer won the one meter event with a final score of 247.40 points and the 3 meter diving event with 236.55 points.

"It was a great weekend swimming back to back and we had a good team meet," said head coach Peggy Ewald. "We pulled together with all the extras going on with the Golden Kickboard, Senior Day and Swim for Cystic Fibrosis. Now we have to get ready for OAC Championships."

Ohio Northern will return to action on Friday when they travel to face off against Notre Dame (Ohio) at 6 pm.
