Hardin County Hootenannies 4-H report

By Meadow Cromer, acting reporter

Megan Williams, our vice-president, was acting president at the last Hardin Co Hootenannies 4-H meeting.  Preston Brien led the American flag pledge and Seth Davis led the 4-H pledge.  There were 10 members present.  Old business was the goat clinic to be held at Cromer's on Aug 4th .  We talked about the fishing derby at Russ Cahill's pond on last Tuesday.

Dillon and Levi Beiler agreed to help with a community project on Monday evening and Preston Brien and Landyn Hijma will join them on Wednesday to help.

Issac Davis did his health report on external parasites in goats. Landyn did his safety report on archery safety. Dillon Beiler did his safety report on the basics of electricity safety.

Preston Brien and Levi Beiler were chosen to give their reports at the next meeting.

For refreshments, Meadow and Callie Cromer prepared fresh fruit and dip and Preston Brien baked corn bread muffins.  A discussion followed about the importance of fruits and vegetables (which are so readily available in America) in your diet, which vitamins they provide, and how many servings are needed each day. We discussed our homework menus and our week long exercise log. *60 minutes each day.  (All of this is for our group project, Star Spangled Foods) The Beiler family will be providing the menu for next meeting.

Our next meeting will be Sun. June 23rd at the Brien family's farm.  This past meeting was held at Landyn Hijma's house and it was his birthday so he also shared the importance of cupcakes in our diet!
