Robert "Bob" Jump owned a dairy farm in Liberty Township since 1955

Robert E. "Bob" Jump, 81, died Tuesday, July 02, 2013, at 10:23 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems, Lima.

He was born on July 8, 1931, in Forest, Ohio, to Clarence H. and Marie Luella (Dirmeyer) Jump and they preceded him in death. He married Jane Woodard who preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2001.

Mr. Jump was a farmer and dairyman. He attended Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Ada. He was a 1949 graduate of Ada High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He served as a Hardin County Junior Fair Board member from 1946 to 1949. He served as a 4-H adviser for 15 years, served as fair director from 1960 to 1977.

He was president of the Hardin County Dairy Service Unit for over 10 years and president of the Ohio Ayrshire Breeders Association for 10 years. He served as a representative for ABS Global for 35 years.

He was a 20-year member of the Hardin County Farm Bureau. He was the owner of a dairy farm in Liberty Township near Ada since 1955. He raised and showed Ayrshire cattle at the Ohio State Fair and local county fairs for many years. He was selected as Young Farmer of the Year by the Kenton Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Also surviving are two sons: Wayne (Katie) Jump of Kenton and Randy (Jill) Jump of Ada; two daughters: Marlene Jump of Ada and Mary Jump of Arlington; one granddaughter, Sophia Jump; three step grandsons: Justin Shoemaker, Tyler Rall and Dillon Rall; four step granddaughters: Kim Schaper, Julie Schaper, Grace Rall and Rose Rall; two sisters: Dorothy (Donavin) Zimmerly and Clarice (Harold) Henry both of Ada.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Jump.

A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 6,  at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Kenneth Rader officiating. Burial will be in McElroy Cemetery, Ada.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 5, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardin County Dairy Service Unit of Kenton, Ohio.
