Hardin County's finest honored in McIntosh Center

Several Hardin County residents, businsses and organizations were in the spotlight Thursday evening at McIntosh Center, Ada.

During the Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance’s eighth annual dinner meeting, the following awards were presented: Donna Martin - 2013 Citizen of the Year; Brim’s Imports and Brim’s Imports and Auto Savage - 2013 Business of the Year; and Hardin Pioneer Aktion Club - 2013 Community Service Award.

Donna Martin, was the recipient of the 2013 Citizen of the Year based on her dedication to helping students from all over the Kenton community. Donna started a tutoring program over eight years ago and it has gone from ten to over thirty students.

It includes transportation from school to tutoring, then home afterwards.  Her dedication is not just limited to tutoring and homework, but also to teaching them to work hard at reaching goals.

Brim’s Imports and Brim’s Imports Auto Savage received the 2013 Business of the Year based on their commitment to giving back to the Hardin County Community.

Tom Brim accepted the award on behalf of Brim’s Imports, which opened as a bicycle shop in 1956 and has grown into one of the largest auto dealers in our area, as well as a supplier of foreign auto parts. With their support, many organizations, groups, and clubs in Hardin County have prospered.

The Hardin Pioneer Aktion Club was awarded the 2013 Community Service Award based on their dedication to helping others and improving our community. Joss Gammon accepted the award on behalf of The Hardin Pioneer Aktion Club, which is 25 enthusiastic and dedicated individuals, all of whom are adults with a disability. 

Co-sponsored by the Ada and Kenton Kiwanis, in conjunction with Simon Kenton HARCO Industries, this group’s members strive to return to their community the benefit, help and caring they have received.

Over 190 were in attendance at the event held at Ohio Northern University’s McIntosh Center.

Approved by Alliance members during the annual meeting were the 2014 officers and Board of Directors.
