Marilyn Sue Collins was retired as elementary teacher's aide at Hardin Northern

Marilyn Sue Collins, 82, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at 1:25 a.m. at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Arlington, Ohio.

She was born on December 1, 1931 in Lima, Ohio to Ernest and Madge (Kanawal) Schaaf, who preceded her in death. On June 3, 1956, she married Edward L. Collins and he survives in Forest, Ohio.

Marilyn was a homemaker and retired in 1984 from Hardin Northern Schools where she worked as an elementary school teacher's aide. She was a 1949 graduate of Lima Senior High School. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet. Marilyn was an artist, played the piano and loved reading.

Surviving are a son, Michael Edward Collins of Forest; 2 daughters, Cheryl Ann (Joseph Edward) Mattias of Hudsonville, Mich., and Terry Elizabeth Collins of Forest; and 3 grandchildren, Philip Michael, Emily Elizabeth, and Andrew Joseph.

She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Ernest Collins; and 2 sisters, Helen Ann Hardin and Wanda Jean Seitz.

A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 28, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Trent Boedicker officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cridersville.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 27 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Good Samaritan Society of Arlington.
