Hootenannies 4-H Club gearing up for the fair

The Hardin Co. Hootenannies are gearing up for the fair. Our last meeting was held at Megan Williams farm when we got our entry forms filled out to turn in to show at the fair. President Megan opened the meeting and asked Landyn Hijma to lead the American pledge and Sean Hurley to lead us in the 4-H pledge.

Parent Amy Williams is making plans for the fair booth and will let us know what we will need for it at our next meeting. Parent Ernie Davis announced if anyone wanted another t-shirt or an extra for a parent, they could still order them soon for the fair.

There is a county work day at the fairgrounds Saturday, August 23.  Members are encouraged to help there. For anyone trying for goat royalty, the interviews will be that day as well.

Riley Fleece gave her health and safety talk on heat stroke. Megan Williams gave a talk about trimming goat hooves. At our next meeting Faith Holbrook and Mikayla Creviston will do presentations.

Refreshments of ice cream with lots of toppings were served by Megan Williams and her family.

Our next meeting will be at Faith Holbrook’s farm on Sunday, August 24 at 4 p.m. Faith has also volunteered to provide refreshments. Please bring lawn chairs. After the meeting we will work on showmanship with a mock judging.  Members are encouraged to work with their livestock projects this week and practice the parts of your animal.
