Dancing with the Ada Stars on Freed Center stage Oct. 4

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents “Dancing with the Ada Stars” on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 8:30 p.m. for the 2014 Homecoming performance.

Patterned after the highly popular ABC show “Dancing With the Stars,” local celebrities will compete for the prestigious Mirror Ball Trophy by showcasing their dance moves. Scheduled to dance are:
• Arlene Allison, Ada school teacher
• Keith Everhart, Hardin County sheriff 
• Greg Grimslid, Hardin County Municipal Court judge 
• Matt Jennings, CEO of Quest Federal Credit Union 
• Shannon Kraus, ONU fourth-year pharmacy major from Pittsburgh, Pa., and
• Sarah Waters, ONU associate professor of music 
• Also scheduled to perform is the ONU Dance Company

Allison graduated from Ada High School and from ONU with a major in elementary education and specialty in reading. She is active in church and school booster groups and is co-organizer for the Ada Harvest and Herb Festival.

Everhart has worked in the law enforcement field for more than 20 years. In December 1993, he was appointed deputy sheriff for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office. He has served in various positions culminating with his election to the office of sheriff in November 2008; he remains in that position today. He is active with the Ada Schools and the Ada Lions Club as well.

Grimslid graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1978 and a Juris Doctor in 1989. He practices law in Ada. Grimslid has coached at Ada High School for 34 years and is active in many civic organizations. 

Jennings is a native of Hardin County and serves as the CEO of Quest Federal Credit Union. Active in the community, he serves as chair of the Hardin Memorial Hospital Board, the Hardin County Community Foundation, Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, and the Hardin County Airport Authority Board.

Kraus is the resident director of 5UP and Northern House, the president elect of Kappa Epsilon and vice president of Student National Pharmaceutical Association. Additionally, Kraus was selected as Homecoming Queen in 2013.

Waters teaches in the ONU Department of Music and is the director of the ONU Summer Music Camp. A native of Lima, she is a 1987 ONU graduate. She and her husband, Rob Waters, were teaching in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina forced them back north.

Tickets for this event are $20 for general admission and $15 for seniors, $10 for ONU faculty and staff, and $8 for children and students. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
