The Ada Kiwanis Club met on Tuesday, Oct, 28,  at noon at McIntosh Center, O.N.U., Ada. President John Berg called the meeting to order.

Bob Szuch and Rob Brown, Vice President of Lima Kiwanis Club were welcomed as guests.

The birthdays on members Amanda Bennett (October 30th) and Mark Shull (October 31st) were noted in song.

-Ohio Kiwanis District Governor Diana Keplinger will visit Divisions 2 and 3 on November 19th at the Sidney Moose Lodge. Two members, John Berg and Jon Umphress are planning to attend.
-President Berg reported that the committee sign-ups went well. A few more slots remain to be filled.

Bob Szuch spoke to members about War Memorial Park.  He said that the park was already mentioned in the press in 1897.  At that time it was a Tri-County park. Since that time the park has been dedicated to Veterans.

2000 people a day visit the park in the spring and summer seasons.

Each Board commissioner serves a 2-year term on a non-paid volunteer basis.

He said there are plans to put in a dog park.

Outstanding needs include:  the lights on the football field need to be replaced as also does one of the mowers; a number of the picnic tables are in bad repair and need repair.

A renewal tax levy is being held next Tuesday.

He said the Board appreciates Kiwanis ‘on going gifts of trees, especially in view of the ash borer infestation a few years ago.

The park’s annual operating budget is about $170,000, which is extraordinarily reasonable for the amount of service provided.

The membership thanked Szuch for his presentation.
