ONU Aurora chapter of Mortar Board receives Silver Torch Award

The Aurora chapter of the National Mortar Board Society at Ohio Northern University was among the outstanding chapters to be honored for excellence at the 2014 Mortar Board National Conference, held Aug. 1-3 in Atlanta.

Ohio Northern was one of 67 schools to be presented The Silver Torch Award, which is given to chapters meeting chapter management standards while exemplifying the ideals of scholarship, leadership and service.

Mortar Board is the premier national honor society recognizing college seniors for outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. Since its founding in 1918, the organization has grown from four founding chapters to 228 chartered collegiate chapters with nearly a quarter of a million initiated members across the nation. The Aurora chapter at Ohio Northern University was chartered in 1975 and currently has 53 members.
