James Curtis, 1935-2015

James R. “Jim” Curtis, 79, died on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015 at 1:42 a.m. at his residence in Lima surrounded by his family.

Mr. Curtis was born on April 14, 1935, in Charleston, S.C., to James and Edith Eleanore (Whetsler) Curtis who preceded him in death. On Nov. 22, 1958, he married Sola Wireman and she survives in Lima.

He retired after working for 42 years as the co-owner of R&W Drywall Company. 

Also surviving are two sons: Tony Curtis of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mark (Cindy) of Lima; a daughter, Brenda Converse of Lima; six grandsons and two great grandchildren; two sisters: Linda (Ed) Jarrell of Lima and Anita (Garrett) Molands of Ada.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Marvin, Larry, Clyde and Ernest Curtis; and a sister, Ellen E. Curtis.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Rev. Ed and Rev. Linda Jarrell officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and/or St. Rita’s Hospice.
