Vancrest of Ada will employ 75 to 85 persons; should be completed by December

By Monty Siekerman
The $6 million Vancrest of Ada nursing home that is now under construction will probably be completed by December, according to Mark A. White, president, Vancrest Management Corp.

The 56,000-square-foot facility will have 50 beds for skilled nursing care and 32 assisted living units within the main facility. Rehab services will be available when it opens. Vancrest of Ada will employ 75 to 85 people.

The facility is under construction on West North Avenue (State Route 81), across from Ada schools. The auditor's office reports the company purchased the 18.5 acres from Travis Baker for $250,000 in January, 2014.

Mayor David Retter comments:
"The Vancrest Nursing Home that is currently under construction on North Street is a welcome addition to this community.  It brings much needed services to us and, in addition, we expect this to generate a substantial number of jobs.

"I also believe that this facility could become useful to the nursing program at Ohio Northern.  We have every reason to expect that Vancrest will be another good corporate citizen for the Village of Ada."

ONU President Dr. Dan DiBiasio remarked:
“Ohio Northern University sees the construction of the new nursing home and assisted-living facility in Ada by Vancrest as a great opportunity for the community and the University.

"Vancrest owner and president, Mark White, a graduate of ONU, has built a high-quality nursing home business, and we are excited about the prospect of working with him in a number of ways. The new facility offers new avenues for ONU’s allied health sciences program by providing students with possible internships, practical hands-on experiences and volunteer opportunities.

"It also provides our nursing and pharmacy students with possible research and practical teaching opportunities.”
