Monday's musical choices in Ada include The Cadets and The University Singers

By Monty Siekerman

Two major musical events of the summer in Ada take place the same evening and both are free and open to the public.

• The Cadets perform at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 20, in the stadium.

• The University Singers will conclude their national tour ONU with a home concert at 8 p.m. on Monday in the Freed Center.

For those who may wish to see both programs, one could view The Cadets during dress rehearsal at 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in the stadium, then have Monday free to attend the University Singers at the Freed Center.

Neither group could change the dates of their shows on Monday. The Cadets need to leave Ada the next day to begin their national tour. The ONU choir will be concluding its extensive tour the same evening.

The ONU group has given 36 performances in 16 states.

The University Singers is a 48-voice concert choir directed by Dr. Ben Ayling, director of choral activities.

The choir performs a variety of music literature.

On Monday, the Cadets will perform their entire 2016 show, titled "Awakening," with band members, flag corps, and dance moves.

The corps will also perform a few classics from “yesteryear" as well as a patriotic selection or two to complete the evening.
