4-H Hootenannies preparing for Hardin County Fair

By Riley Fleece, reporter

The Hardin County Hootenannies met at  Faith Holbrook's farm.  President Faith opened the meeting by asking Seth Davis to say the 4-H Pledge and Miranda Holbrook to do the American Pledge.  There were 7 members present.  Our advisors asked if any members needed any last minute help trimming or clipping our animals.  A reminder that on September 4th  at 2:00pm at the fair grounds will be goat pen set up.

After the meeting we worked on showmanship skills with Faith's goats.  Advisor Grant Mizek stood in as our acting judge.  We were reminded of many important aspects of being the best showman we can be.

We are so excited for the fair!  We hope you will come join us for the various shows.  Our pigs will show starting on Mon evening with the Showmanship classes in the main arena.  Levi Beiler has been working hard with his pigs.  Then Tues morning will be the hog show starting at 8 am.  Also on Tues the goat show in the goat tent starting at 9 am with showmanship.  Isaac Davis, Seth Davis, Sean Hurley, Riley Fleece, Miranda Holbrook, and Faith Holbrook will be showing their market goats and commercial breeding stock.  Wed evening, Elisha Lowery will be showing her sheep.

Please join us for the shows or just even come visit us at our barns/tents to see what we work on all summer long.
