Joyce Murphy was a former Ada Girl Scout leader

 Joyce M. Murphy, 74, died on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at 1:15 p.m. at Wapakoneta Manor in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

She was born on May 8, 1942, in Lima, Ohio to John Elmer and R. “Marie” (Jacobs) Keith and they preceded her in death. On June 4, 1961, Joyce married John E. Murphy and he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2004.

Joyce was a bookkeeper and assisted in the operation of Murphy Motor Sales Ada. She formerly worked at the Lima Telephone & Telegraph Company from 1960-1961 and then worked from 1961-1964 at the Lima Metropolitain Bank.

Joyce attended the Bethlehem Christian Union Church, Wapakoneta. She was a graduate of Auglaize Local High School of Harrod in 1960. She was a Girl Scout Leader in Ada from 1972-1978, and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #121 of Lafayette, Ohio.  

She is survived by her three daughters: Melanie (Brian) Musselman of Cridersville, Melissa (Steve) Miller of Wapakoneta and Melinda (Jason) Gallman of Mendon; eight grandchildren: Jacob (Carol) Musselman, Danielle (Ryan) Bailey, Zachary (Kayla) Musselman, Andrew (Camille) Marsteller, Kylie Marsteller, Lindsey Marsteller, Justin Gallman and Alex Gallman; a sister, Jacklyn “Jackie” (Barry) Melson of Valdosta, Ga.; two great grandchildren: Joshua Maxwell Bales and Asa Cruz Marsteller.

Funeral services will begin at 11a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Andrew Marsteller officiating. Burial will be in McElroy Cemetery, Ada.

          Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

          In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Health Professionals – Hospice of Auglaize County.
