Reed and Richards lead Women's Outdoor Track & Field at Gregory Invitational

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Sophomore Maddy Reed (Lucasville/Piketon) and junior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) led the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team as it wrapped its regular season up at the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College.

No team scores were kept in the meet.

Reed led the way on day one for the Polar Bears as she claimed the pole vault title and broke her own school record with a leap of 13' 0.75".

The sophomore improved her national mark and solidified her spot with the second highest vault nationally.

Junior Kelly Wollenslegel (Clyde) also competed in the pole vault and claimed third place with a vault of 11' 10.5".

Senior Rebecca Olashuk (Defiance/Tinora) also competed on day one of the meet and posted a fifth place finish in the hammer throw.

The senior finished fifth overall with a throw of 159' 8".

On the second day of the meet Richards led the way as she posted the fourth fastest time in the nation in the 400-meter dash, winning the event with a school-record time of :55.02.

Senior Kelsey Commager (Maumee) finished second overall in the triple jump with a leap of 38'.

The senior also finished third overall in the long jump with a distance of 18' 0.5".

Senior Rebecca Carman (Bellefontaine) posted a fourth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 17' 10.25".

Carman also finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in :15.43.

Seniors Nicole Huber (Findlay) and Genevieve Marchese (Beavercreek/Carroll) finished 9th and 23rd in the 800-meter run, respectively, while sophomore Avery Ewing (Kokomo, Ind./Eastern) posted a top-10 finish in the event a she finished seventh in 2:18.23.

Marchese also competed in the 1,500-meter run for Northern.

Sophomore Taylor Fisher (Wapakoneta) posted a top-10 finish in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing tenth in 1:05.94.

The 4x400-meter relay team of seniors Meagan Ellinger (Bath, Ind./Union County), Michelle Mosler (Wapakoneta), Ewing and Richards wrapped up the meet in a record-setting fashion as they placed second in the event with a school-record time of 3:51.86.

The Polar Bears return to action May 25-27 as they compete at the 2017 Outdoor National Championships, hosted by Mount Union in Geneva, Ohio.
