Marshall Brumett 1930-2017

Marshall L. Brumett, age 86, died on Sunday, June 04, 2017 at 3:38 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

            He was born on June 17, 1930 in Huntington, West Virgina to Marshall and Adeline (Epling) Brumett Sr who preceded him in death. On November 9, 1952 Marshall married Alice Mae Miller who preceded him in death on June 9, 2001.

Marshall retired from Buckeye Rubber in Lima. Throughout his life he worked as a coal miner, roofer, at Sheller Globe, for the railroad and in construction. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served from 1951 to 1952 during the Korean War in the 25th Division, 89th Tank Battalion.  He was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church of Ada. Marshall was a life member of the Ada VFW Post #9381, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #428 of Kenton and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the of the Latham Masonic Lodge F&AM of Kenton Lodge #154 and a member of the former Ada Masonic Lodge F&AM #344, a member of the former Ada Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #6, and a member of the Royal Arch Masonic Body of Ada.  

            He is survived by a son, Gregory Brumett of Ada; four daughters: Tamara (Donald) Bryan of Ada, Tina Numbers of Lima, Teresa (Bruce) Music of Lima and Tracie (Fiancé Ed Marshall) Simon of Kenton; nine grandchildren: Alicia (Kenny) Gibson, Nicholas (Sara) Bryan, Kyle (Ashley) Numbers, Haylie (Fiancé, Chaise Sumney) Numbers, Katelyn (Fiancé, Brad Adams) Numbers, Nathan (Melissa) Music, Amber (Matt) Shade, Tiffanie (Brock) Sumney and Zachary (Alex) Simon and ten great grandchildren; a sister, Margie Stowe of Georgia; two sisters-in-law: Catherine Case of Lima and Sally Roof of Lima; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Crates of Lima.

            He was preceded in death by Tina’s companion, Jon Fuelling; a brother, Chester Brumett; and four sisters: Ilene Samons, Jerene Coburn, Imelene Craft and Florene Wilcox.

            Funeral services will begin at  11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Thomas Dearth officiating.   Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada with graveside military honors conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.

            Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
