Ada band members continue to win at chess

This time at Buckeye Invitation in Ohio Stadium

The Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard earned a superior rating and first place in class C Saturday at the Buckeye Invitational at Ohio Stadium.

This was the third competition of the season and the third time the Bulldogs earned first place.
 
In addition the group earned honors for best color guard, best general effect, best marching, and best visual effect in class C.

The competition was sponsored by the Ohio Music Education Association and hosted by the OSU marching band.

This year’s Ada show is titled “Chess- Rise of the Pawns” and includes band and guard members marching and spinning on a large chess board complete with chess pieces.  The performance includes music from Twisted as well as original compositions by Director Jonathan Lischak.

Instrumental soloists include Jake Colewell and Callie Young on trumpet, Kylie Colewell on clarinet, Daniel Nash on tenor saxophone, and Nathan Hurtig on baritone saxophone. Amy Webb is color guard director.

The band and color guard will compete Saturday at both the Bloom Carroll Classic and the Tri-Valley Classic OMEA Marching Band Competitions in Carroll and Dresden, respectively.  
The group has qualified to compete in the state marching band finals in Hilliard on Oct. 28.
