Bullimore nears scoring, rebounding records at ONU

If averages hold out, Ohio Northern women’s basketball will have a new scoring and rebounding leader within the next two weeks

Senior Amy Bullimore is just 23 points away from being the leading scorer in ONU women’s basketball history, following a gutsy 22-point performance in 10th-ranked Northern’s overtime win over Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday night.

Bullimore has tallied 1,220 total points in her career at Ohio Northern, where she has appeared in 98 games, starting 70 of them. She is currently fourth on the all-time scoring list, with the top three scorers being 2014 graduate Cenzie Yoder (1,223 points), 2009 graduate Alisha Rinehart (1,228 points) and 2013 graduate Morgan Dumbaugh (now Morgan Bass), who scored a school-record 1,242 points in her time as a Polar Bear.

Bass has local connections, as she graduated from Ada High School in 2009. Bass is also the leading scorer in Ada girls basketball history.

Meanwhile, Bullimore is also just 40 rebounds shy of being the leading rebounder in school history. Bullimore has 761 total rebounds and the record is 800, set by Robin Patterson in 1984. Fun fact: another Ada native ranks highly in that category, as former Bulldog-turned-Polar-Bear Kara Dysert ranks second on the rebounding list with 782.

Bullimore’s average of 10.3 rebounds per game this season is the highest of her career, over two rebounds per game higher than the year before.

The senior is averaging 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game this year, both career highs and both second in the OAC in their respective categories. She will have a chance to break these records in the next couple of weeks, when the Polar Bears play two of three games on the road: at Muskingum tonight, at Heidelberg on Wednesday, and hosting Mount Union next Saturday.

If averages hold out, Ohio Northern women’s basketball will have a new scoring and rebounding leader within the next two weeks. You can watch Bullimore chase these records by following the team’s games on onusports.com.
