Sarah Brianna Decker, age 36, of Alger, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 2:40 p.m. at the Cleveland Clinic.

As I write this, it’s just a few hours after the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. Given traffic jam horror stories from similar events, I decided early on to stay put in Bluffton. But it began to dawn on me on Sunday that perhaps being in the path of totality was not going to double the population of our little town–a possibility for which emergency services were prepared.

Jumbo Jr. Farmers 4-H report for April 2024

The second meeting of the Jumbo Jr. Farmers was held on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.  There were 20 members, 3 advisors and 11 parents or guests in attendance. 

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ryan Harpster and the 4-H Pledge was led by Lydia Caldwell.

In old business, the club held elections of officers. The officers for the 2024 Year are President Claire Ketcham; Vice President Lydia Caldwell; Secretary Sam Blue; Treasurer LeiAnna Stedman; Reporter Tate Ketcham; Safety Officer Braylin Kabua; Health Officer Lindsey Winings; Environmental Officer Hunter Lautenschlager; Recreation Committee Jaci Wolfenbarger, Hadassa Vermillion, Mark Caldwell, Clayten Chamberlin and Lianna Purcell. 

Jacob Ryan Shubert served in the U.S. Army

Jacob Ryan Shubert, 26, of Lima and formerly of Vonore, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, April 5, 2024.
