Things you didn’t know about your own hometown

Early 1932:

January: the Ada roller skating hockey team lost to Lima. Players included Sanford and Harry Wright, James Ferrall, Kenneth Robnolte, Robert Lindsley, Homer Hawes and Robert Wallick.

March: Andrew’s Dairy (later Ada Dairy) was in business in Ada.

March: Russell and Stella Hoover of DeGraff purchased the Ada Creamery and opened the Hoover Creamery at 227 North Main Street.

The 2018 United Way of Hardin County officially announced its campaign program, at the annual kick off breakfast, Thursday in Kenton.  

The honorary chairman Dr Daniel DiBiasio and Chris Burns-DiBiasio have previous experience with United Way campaigns and expressed their commitment to United Way and belief of the great services it provides. "This is a very important program, and we want to do what we can, to achieve success," said the DiBiasios.

Football U - everything you need to know

Sign-up now for basic or advance one-hour course

Football is just around the corner, and the ONU football coaching staff will hold Football U for anyone wanting to learn more about the game. It's free and open to the public. Here are details:

There will be a 1-hour basic level course Saturday. Registration is at 1 p.m., the session starting at 1:30 p.m. This course features Basic Level (Football 101) and Advanced Level (Football 452) sessions.

The Offensive 101 level session will run concurrently with the Defensive 452 session, and vice versa. Each session will be 30 minutes in duration.

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Where were you when the sun blinked at 2:28 p.m.?

Many Icon viewers were wearing funny dark glasses and staring into space. Those who did have a story to tell their grandchildren. Ada and Bluffton were at 85 percent coverage of the great solar eclipse of 2017.

While not like a total eclipse, it was a very noticible afternoon.
