Ada sophomores visit Apollo's 411Blast Friday

Students introduced to career possibilities

Ada High School sophomores will be among nearly 750 sophomores in Apollo Career Center’s 11-member district visiting Apollo during 411Blast, Friday, Jan. 27.

Ada sophomores will visit Apollo during two sessions:  noon to 12:58 p.m. and 1:02 to 2 p.m.
 
This day exposes students to career possibilities and paths that available to inhance their career or college success.

Students choose two programs of interest and then spend one-half day visiting those labs, meeting the instructors and participating in fun, interactive demos and activities.

The Icons partner with Ohio Means Jobs

Ada and Bluffton Icon are partnering with Ohio Means Jobs,  a program of Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Both Icons will list current job openings within a 10-mile radius of Ada and Bluffton. These listings are on the Icon Classified/Display Ad Page.

Men's Basketball runs win streak to 6

Stays atop OAC with 86-65 victory over Wilmington

ADA — Senior Devon Allen (Lima/Senior) scored a game-high 20 points to lead Ohio Northern to an 86-65 men's basketball victory over Wilmington on Wednesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears (11-7 overall) extend their winning streak to six games and stay atop the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 9-2 league mark.

The Quakers fall to 7-11, 2-9.

Senior Konnor Baker (Ada) added 16 points and junior Joey DiOrio (Columbus/Watterson) and sophomore Ryan Bruns (Chickasaw/Marion Local) chipped in 15 points each for ONU.

Wilmington was led by Kameron Moore with 17 points.

Teen Dating Violence Awareness event

A Teen Dating Violence Awareness event will take place during the Ada/Kenton boys basketball game in Ada on Saturday, Jan. 28. Students from both schools are encouraged to wear orange.

The Hardin County Family Safety Coalition, sponsors of the event, will have an information table available. Facts to discourage teen dating violence will announced at the beginning of the game and at halftime. Cheerleaders will throw out mini basketballs. Local businesses have provided money so both teams can wear orange socks.

Tavern 101, 101 S. Main St., Ada, the Icon's newest advertiser, now has its menu and daily specials available to Icon viewers.

ONU women swimmers wrap up season

The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team wrapped up its regular season with a tri-meet at Case Western Reserve with Hillsdale (Mich.) on Saturday afternoon at Veale Natatorium. The Polar Bears (4-6 overall) fell to Case 243-54 and were topped by Division II Hillsdale 201-83.
