National Day of Mourning Dec. 5

US Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries; federal offices closed

Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, is proclaimed as a National Day of Mourning in remembrance of former President George H.W. Bush, according to information from the Ohio News Media Association.

The United States Postal Service has announced that out of respect for the 41st President of the United States and to be consistent with a Presidential Proclamation, the USPS will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Dec.  5.

The Post Office will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure that their network remains fluid and they do not experience any negative impact to their package delivery operations during the holiday season.

In addition, all executive offices and agencies of the federal government will be closed
