Baseball: Bulldog nine falls at Arcadia

ARCADIA - The host Arcadia baseball team scored in every inning except the second to defeat Ada 12-2 Tuesday evening.

Ada fell to 2-2 with the non-league loss.

The Redskins jumped ahead with two runs in the bottom of the first frame. Arcadia extended the margin to 6-0 with four runs in the third.

The hosts led 9-0 going to the sixth when Ada plated its two runs. But Arcadia responded with three runs in the home half of the sixth to end it via the 10-run rule.

Bulldog sophomore leadoff hitter Zac Swaney collected two hits and scored a run. Senior Austin Amburgey singled, scored a run and drove in a run.

Senior first baseman Jaylin Burkhart also knocked in a run with a hit. Junior Landon Blankenship added the other Bulldog hit.  

Trent Ennis pitched two solid innings in relief for Ada, allowing no earned runs. Starting hurler Bryce Paul allowed just one earned run in 2 2/3 innings.

Arcadia out-hit Ada 10-5 and capitalized on four errors to score eight unearned runs. The Redskins also drew 11 walks to two by the Bulldogs.

Ada (1-0 home) is slated to entertain BVC rival Cory-Rawson Thursday, March 28.
