Team previews: It's time for indoor track and field at ONU

Women's team ranked 6th nationally • men ranked 7th

Here are the ONU men's and women's indoor track and field previews.

Senior Sam Krabacher (Hamilton/Badin) and junior Andrew Buderer (Oak Harbor) each won events to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team to a second place finish at the season-opening Otterbein Early Season Showcase meet on Sunday at the Clements Center.

The Polar Bears (3-1 overall) were second with 123 points. John Carroll won the meet with 145 points, Otterbein was third with 88, Wilmington was fourth with 62 and Capital was fifth with 44.

Krabacher won the 1,000-meter run in 2:35.98 and Buderer won the pole vault by clearing 4.56 meters.

Junior Nate Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela-Saint Joseph) was second in he 200-meter dash in :22.94 and was third in the 60-meter dash in :07.19.

Sophomore Selorm Adehe (Grove City/Central Crossing) was second in the 60-meter hurdles in :09.05.

Freshman Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) was second in the shot put with a heave of 14.32 meters.

Freshman Gabe Hensley (Lebanon) was third in the long jump with a leap of of 6.01 meters.

Sophomore Billy Driemeyer (House Springs, Mo./Lindbergh) finished third in the 1-mile run in 4:31.65.

Freshman Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) was third in the 800 in 2:03.27.

Sophomore Brandon Berry (Wickliffe) was third in the 200 in :24.00.

Freshman Braden Schaser (Fostoria/Lakota) was third in the 3,000-meter run in 9:20.08

The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday when they host John Carroll and Baldwin Wallace in the annual Joe Banks Invitational.

WOMEN'S TEAM
The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team opened its 2021 season with a second place finish at the Otterbein Early Season Showcase meet on Sunday at the Clements Center.

The Polar Bears (3-1 overall) were second with 136 points. John Carroll won the meet with 241 points, Otterbein was third with 86, Wilmington was fourth with 27 and Capital was fifth with nine.

Sophomore Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) won the pole vault, clearing 3.21 meters. Sophomore Cienna Kuhn (Elida) was third in the event with a height of 2.76 meters.

Senior Stella DeWitt (Weston/Cardinal Stritch) was second in the long jump with a leap of 5.41 meters, was second in the 200-meter dash in :28.20 and was third in the 60-meter hurdles in :09.78.

Sophomore Lexi Neff (Northfield/Walsh Jesuit) was second in the 800 in 2:29.85.

Senior Kylie Vestal (Youngstown/Austintown Fitch) and sophomore Kamryn Rhodes (West Mansfield/North Union) finished 2-3 in the 1-mile run in 5:27.66 and 5:30.20, respectively.

Northern out five of the top six places in the 3,000-meter run, led by junior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) in second in 11:00.45 and senior Kathleen Colvin (Hilliard/Bishop Ready) in third in 11:05.18.

Freshman Hope Stanley (Geneva) was third in the 60-meter dash in :08.87.

Freshman Sydnee Perram (Port Clinton/Danbury) was third in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters.

Junior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) was third in the 1,000 in 3:11.03.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday when they host John Carroll and Baldwin Wallace in the annual Joe Banks Invitational.

WOMEN' RANKED NATIONALLY
The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team opened the 2021 season ranked No. 6 nationally in the first weekly United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Div. III power rankings.

The Polar Bears (3-1 overall) scored 151.85 points in the rankings, which are based on national rankings with bonus points for exceptional times.

The power rankings include just a small portion of all schools that plan to compete this season.
