Hocus Pocus...it's October 31st

Happy Halloween

By Monty Siekerman
Today is Halloween in most parts of the nation, but in Ohio local authorities decide when to have trick or treat. Ada had three major events last week in observance of Halloween. But the folks at the Ada Public Library want to wish you Happy Halloween on the REAL date...today, the 31st.

On Monday, those who attended a special program at the library received a paper sack as they entered the darkened meeting room.  The sack contained a rats tail and other ghoulish items, so they were told. Spider rings, nasal strips, plastic eyeballs and bones were included in the small sack. It was all part of a party for 6-12th graders.

Library sponsors coloring contest

The Ada Public Library is sponsoring a coloring contest now through the end of the month. Winners receive of each category will win a $15 Amazon gift certificate.
There are five categories by age group from 0-5 years up to adult. Coloring sheets are available at the circulation desk.

Library hosts Halloween party Thursday

During trick or treat night on Thursday, the Ada Public Library will host a Halloween party with pizza, goodies, crafts, and a costume contest with prizes. The Library asks that you make them one of your stops on Oct. 25 between 4:30-7 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Fiends of the Library.

Library Director Rhett Grant and his wife Jenny welcome Halloweeners last year.

Paranormal finds

Ohio Ghost Gals tell their story at the library

By Monty Siekerman
What equipment does it take to root out a ghost, discover an apparition, find an ethereal being? Stacy Perkins can tell you. She spoke at the Ada Public Library on Saturday morning, telling of paranormal finds that she and three other Ghost Gals from Lima have discovered the past six years.

To search out paranormal activity one needs a Boo Bear, a stuffed animal that reads room temperature and movement as well as talks, trying to get the ghost to talk back. Put a recorder by Boo Bear’s feet and you’ve capture what the ghost says.
