Lynne Scott will have a book signing at the Ada Public Library from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Dec.. 9. Her newest book titled "Tails from the Kennel: Truths Taught" will be available for $10. The book also is available on Amazon for $11.95.

The book describes some of the things that Lynne, a kennel owner, has learned from the dogs and how lessons they taught her can be applied to Scripture and everyday life.

It began 100 years ago in the town hall women's restroom

Ada Public Library: "You've come a long way, baby"

The Ada Public Library celebrated its 100th birthday on Thursday evening. The library can only be described as "You've come a long way, baby" because it began a century ago in the women's restroom of the town hall.

That arrangement didn't last long. By 1918 the library found a home in the Brewer Block on Main. By the next year, the books (and staff) were housed at 108 E. Highland, a distinctive brick building that is now for sale. The library remained there until 1953.

The library moved into its current building in 1953. An addition and renovation in 1994 expanded and modernized the facility.

Thank you note from Ready, Set, Grow Preschool

A wall at the Ada Public Library has a big Thank You note from Ready, Set, Grow Preschool which meets at the United Methodist Church. The youngsters can barely spell and write their name at that age, but wanted to send the library a big thank you for the alphabet carpet the school received from the library. The donated carpet didn't fit the decor of the new library renovation and expansion, but found a home at the preschool which meets at the church.

It was Spooktacular!

And, the little ones sang the banana song, which had something to do with bananas.

The Ada Public Library sponsored a costume time for the younger youngsters on Tuesday morning, while the older kids enjoyed a costume time in the evening.

Library to close for 2 hours Tuesday
