Pegasus Bus Company announces new models

DUNKIRK, Ohio—Pegasus Bus Company, a new Dunkirk company spearheaded by experienced executives in the school and transit bus industries, has announced details surrounding the design of its all-new Atlas models for Type A and C school buses.

According to the company, with unique body designs and state-of-the-art standard features and options, the new Pegasus vehicles will give bus buyers greater freedom of choice. The broad availability of Atlas models through the Pegasus dealer network will enhance competitiveness that should broadly benefit transit and school bus players in much of North America.

Liberty and Middlefield bank merger announced

At the end of May 2022 Middlefield Banc Corp. and Liberty Bancshares, Inc., the holding company for Liberty National Bank, jointly announced that they have entered into an agreement and plan of reorganization.

“We are excited to announce our combination with Liberty Bancshares, which complements our growth in the Central Ohio market, and expands our footprint to the compelling Northwest Ohio market,” stated James R. Heslop, II, President and CEO of Middlefield. “Once the transaction is completed, we expect to benefit as a larger bank with total assets of approximately $1.8 billion, strong earnings accretion, and a robust footprint around two of Ohio’s largest and fastest growing markets. Beatitudes back-to-school special ends July 31

With the start of school, fall sports and the Hardin County Fair on the horizon, the last week of July is a great time for getting our ducks in a row.

Beatitudes community center and thrift store, 210 N. Main, Ada, will hold its Back to School Special through July 31: the $6 Bag Sale on all clothing.

Soil Health Field Day report

It was 101 degrees but that didn’t stop 65 farmers and land owners from attending our Soil Health Field Day at Burkholder Healthy Farms in Cairo, Ohio.

Our field day was in partnership with Cargill and American Farmland Trust. We discussed soil health practices such as no till, planting cover crops, carbon sequestration, water infiltration, seed treatment options and much more.

Hardin County Extension rainfall report for June 2022

Hardin County–Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 2.29 inches of rain in Hardin County during June. Last year, the average rainfall for June was 3.12 inches. Rainfall for the month was 3.08 inches less than the ten-year average rainfall in the month of June. Buck Township received 3.67 inches,  the most rainfall of the township sites. The least rain in June, 1.55 inches, was reported in Blanchard Township. For the growing season since April 15, the average precipitation in all the townships was 8.62 inches, with a range from 6.15 inches in Hale Township to 11.14 inches in Marion Township.  

The Inn at ONU, Play It Blue showcased at July chamber meeting

The July 20 meeting of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce was an elegant affair at The Inn at ONU. The sound of live piano music greeted the ear and the scent of hot coffee wafted to the entrance.

While the Ada Public Library is “home” for chamber meetings, director Lindsay Walden is open to visiting chamber members at their place of business. On this day, members met Meghan Violet, the new manager of The Inn. Violet announced that the fountain in the courtyard will be turned into a fire pit and that The Inn will soon have a new website. Violet invites all businesses to contact her about services at The Inn.
