County Line Church of the Brethren VBS

"Deep Sea Discovery: God is with me wherever I go" is the theme of the County Line Church of the Brethren VBS which will be held from 6-8 p.m. on July 23-27.  

VBS is for 3 year-olds to 6th grade. The church is located at 4227 N. Hardin (County Line) Road.

There will be an adult Bible study at the same time. A nursery will be available for infants and toddlers. 

Gospel Sing for the community

Dana Walters is organizing a Gospel Sing for the community. The program will be held from 4-9 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, at Ada War Memorial Park.

Nine  individuals and groups are scheduled to sing. A free will donation will be taken for the singers. Food will be available for sale. 

The singers will perform from the band shell at the park. The gospel sing will proceed, even if it rains, since tents will be set up for that possibility.

Alger church VBS

The theme of the Alger Assembly of God VBS is Maker Fun Factory. There will be food, drinks, games, and more. The program for children age 4 to 5th grade is scheduled for July 24-28, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Family Fun Day will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 30.

Mission u held at Ada United Methodist Church

ONU hosted about 300 Methodists last week during Mission u, an annual school for laypersons, officers, and pastors from the West Ohio Conference. 

Here, Rev. Jeanine L. Walker places a conference poster in McIntosh Center. She served as dean of the school. Her day job is pastor of York Street United Methodist Church in Cincinnati. 

Glactic Starveyors VBS theme at Ada Full Gospel Church

July 10-13 for ages 3 to teens

Galactic Starveyors is the theme of this year's Vacation Bible School at Ada Full Gospel Church, 1047 SR 235 north of Ada.

The program will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, July 10-13 for ages 3-teen.

New First United Methodist pastor is an ONU graduate

Brandi Grant-Rigsby will preach her first sermon here on Sunday

Brandi Grant-Rigsby, new pastor of First United Methodist Church, will preach her first sermon in Ada on Sunday, June 25.

She already had an Ada connection as a 2005 Ohio Northern University graduate with a degree in psychology and youth ministry.

“I am thrilled to be moving back to Ada and having the opportunity to raise my kids in this town that has always felt like home to me,” she told The Icon.

Originally from Ayersville, the new pastor earned a master’s of divinity degree from Methodist Theological School of Ohio, Delaware, in 2011.
