The church steeples of Ada - how well do you know them?

Holy Week is here. The Icon challenges viewers to see how good you are at looking up.

Monty Siekerman photographed nine Ada church steeples. These are found in the attachment below this story. See how many you can identify.

There's a challenge in this contest. We've provide a "easy" series of photos that we hope everyone passes. Consider it a warm-up to the Icon Church Steeple Final Exam. In the final we've provided only photos of the very top of the steeples. See how you can master this final test.

And, there's a bonus. Two churches in Ada don't have steeples. See if you can identify those two churches.

Bluffton University Camerata Singers perform at Grace Gospel Church

Bluffton University’s Camerata Singers will perform at Grace Gospel Church, 327 N. Gilbert St., at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 19, as part of the worship service.  This is the home church of Camerata member, Ashley Musgrave.

The chamber choir was established in 1984 as an outgrowth of a larger mixed choir.  Camerata Singers maintains an active schedule of more than 20 annual performances on campus, in area churches and schools, and on tour. 

The choir tours domestically each year, plus includes international travel and study every three or four years. 

Camerata Singers is planning a three-week cross-cultural experience to Great Britain in May.

St. Mark's Easter egg hunt Saturday 10 a.m.

The Easter Bunny makes a second visit to Ada this year.

Looking for a great free activity to do with your kids?  St. Mark's Lutheran Church invites youth to its free Easter Egg hunt at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 4, at the church.

West Ohio Conference UMC bishop preaches at First United Methodist March 29

Rev. Gregory V. Palmer, resident bishop of the West Ohio Conference, will be the preacher at the Ada First United Methodist Church on Palm Sunday, March 29. The service begins at 10 a.m. in the newly-built church on North Main.

Bishop Palmer leads a conference of 182,000 members in 1,037 churches. He became bishop in Ohio in September of 2012. He received degrees from George Washington University and Duke Divinity School. (Monty Siekerman)

United Methodist Women host April 7 concert

The Ada United Methodist Women will host a concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday April 7, at the church, 301 North Main St. 

The program is by Barb Swartz and her topic is "New Beginnings."  She is a member of a trio called " Believe," and will be singing solo for the evening. 

The program is open to the  public. Refreshments will follow the program. Call the church at 419-634-4626 for more information.

First United Methodist congregation beginning to feel at home in new surroundings

Youngsters gather in the front of the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church on Sunday to hear the childrens' sermon. Becky Bodey taught the lesson. This was the first Sunday worship service in the new church, three years after it burned to the ground.

The church has had a series of special occasions leading up to today. There was an Ash Wednesday service on Feb. 18, a prayer vigil from dawn to dusk on Feb. 19-21, and the last service at the ONU Chapel on Feb. 22.
