Action items and reports for March 2023 Apollo Board of Ed

The Apollo Career Center board of education will hold a regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. on March 27. The complete agenda is attached HERE. 

This public meeting will be held in the Apollo board room, 3325 Shawnee Rd, Lima. 

In brief, the meeting will include board votes on:

- Advance $25K into the Renovation House Project fund

Beyond the agenda: March 21 Ada Council Meeting

On March 21 the Village of Ada held two public meetings and committee meeting. The first was a public hearing inviting residents to comment on the Wilson Football Factory request to change three parcels at Highland and Liberty from residential to industrial zoning. There was no public comment.

March 21 council meeting agenda includes plans for chamber events

On the evening of Tuesday, March 21, the village will hold a 6:00 p.m. public hearing prior to the regular council meeting at 6:30 p.m. in Village Council Chambers, 115 W. Buckeye. The hearing is for the purpose of considering a rezoning request by Wilson’s Sporting Goods for three parcels from R2 to I2.

CANCELLED: March 18 Neighborhood Revitalization meeting

The Neighborhood Revitalization meeting on March 18 at the Depot has been cancelled.

This event, the fourth public meeting for a Neighborhood Revitalization Grant application, was to review cost estimates and determine priorites. It was also to be a meeting of the whole of the Village of Ada council.

Stay tuned for information on when the meeting will be rescheduled.

Summary of March 7 village council meeting

At the March 7 meeting of the Ada Council, all councilors were present. In addition to the Kenton Times and Ada Icon, Ray Finnegan of Aspen Energy was present.

The council reviewed 4 claims registers with Fiscal Officer Patty Navin, learning that PUCO is now charging utility operators an annual registration fee that is part of legislation ensuring that anyone excavating or operating underground facilities follows safe digging practices.

PUBLIC COMMENT
Moving Mr. Finnegan ahead in the agenda, Mayor Dave Retterer opened the public comment portion of the meeting. Finnegan presented information on electricity aggregation opportunities for the Village. Gas and electrical aggregation is being adopted by some area communities, including villages and unincorporated areas. To make this change, aggregation must be passed by local ballot. Additional information on this and other items is in the attached packet.

Community provides feedback on Ada Schools sports conference

UPDATE: The March Ada Board of Education meeting has been rescheduled. The board will meet at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30.

On Monday, March 6, the Ada Exempted Village Schools hosted a forum for discussion about the proposed school sports move from the Northwest Conference (NWC) to the Blanchard Valley Conference (BVC).

Approximately 100 people attended the event. Moderated by high school principal Dan Lee, attendees were invited to make comments with a time limit of three minutes, followed by a question and answer period.
