CHP holds inside garage sale Feb. 26-27

Community Health Professionals will hold an inside garage sale Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27, according to Deb Curlis.

Persons may rent a table for $10 to display items and must be present during open hours to take care of your own sales.

Set up is Thursday, Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sale hours are:
• Friday, Feb. 26: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturday, Feb. 27: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

ONU's Super Bowl Countdown offers fan prep for the game

Have a Super Bowl question?

Ohio Northern University’s Super Bowl Countdown will provide football fans with lots of preparation in anticipation of this year’s game. The program, titled “ONU’s Super Bowl Countdown…Beyond the Broadcast,” is free and open to the public.

The Countdown is from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, in the McIntosh Center Activities Room.

Speakers include:
Dean Paul, ONU head football coach. He will discuss halftime and sideline adjustments anticipated in the game.

Feb. 2 lunch and learn focus on benefits of saving during tax season

A lunch and learn focuing on the benefits of saving during tax time is planned on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Hardin County Extension SPARK Lab, according to Jami Dellifield of the extension office.

Amanda Woods, Healthy Finances Program Specialist, will make the presentation, which takes place from either 11:45 a.m.—12:15 p.m. or 12:30-1 p.m.

Participants should bring their own lunch. The program is at the Hardin County OSU Extension SPARK Lab, 1021 W. Lima St., Kenton,

Hey, gramps, let's go grillin' with your grandkids

“Grillin’ with My Grandchild,” a new program by Ohio State University Extension and Hardin County Extension, according to Jami Dellifield of the Hardin County OSU Extension Office.

It involves Hardin County grandfathers and their grandchildren grilling dinners together, creating an electronic memory book, and having a great time.  

The two-session program series will be held on consecutive Tuesday evenings, Feb. 23 and March 1 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.  at the SPARK Lab, Hardin County OSU Extension Office, 1021 W. Lima St., Kenton.

Get your Kiwanis pancake-sausage tickets now

The Ada Kiwanis Club will hold its 63rd annual pancake and sausage day Saturday, March 19, at the Ada High School Ccafeteria, serving from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The club will be serving all-you-can eat pancakes and whole hog sausage. Pre-sale tickets are $7 each, or $8 at the door. Children age 10 and under will eat free.

Tickets are available at the following locations:
• Liberty-National Bank,
• Ferguson Insurance Agency,
• Hanson-Neely Funeral Home
• ReStore Community Center and
• Dr. Mark B. Shull’s office.
• Tickets will also be available from any Kiwanis Club member.

"The Problem with Helping," topic of Thursday program

Anna McKeon will speak on "The Problem with Helping," during a program open to the public at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, in the ONU McIntosh Ballroom, according to Christine North.

"Anyone engaged in volunteering and working in the community will not want to miss this excellent presentation," said North.

The speaker coordinates the Better Volunteering Better Care initiative, which advocates against international volunteering in residential care centers (orphanages) and promotes ethical an responsible volunteering alternatives.
