2023 Memorial Day program: Honoring those who died serving our country

Memorial Day 2023 was a sunny, breezy day in Ada and ceremonies at Woodlawn Cemetery, 5134 State Route 235, featured bright blue skies and briskly snapping flags. The event was co-sponsored by Foss-Agin-Meyer Post 195 of the American Legion and Ream-McElroy Post 9381 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Farmers & Merchants Parade invitation

Now is the best time to sign up for Ada's Farmers & Merchants Picnic Parade that will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

The entry form is attached and can be picked up at the Century 21 Sunway Realty LLC office, 208 N Main St. Anoter option is to request an email from co-chairpersons Tami Waller at [email protected] or Becky Neville at [email protected]. Completed forms may be dropped off at the Century 21 office.

Parade information must be submitted by August 1.

Ada High School "Strike Out Cancer" benefit game

UPDATE: RESCHEDULED FOR JUNE 29

The Ada High School softball program will host its second annual “Strike Out Cancer” fundraiser on Tuesday, June 13 featuring a high school game, pre-game contest and items for sale.

Funds from the event held at the varsity softball diamond in the park will be raised to help two Ada teachers.

1:00 p.m. Memorial Day ceremonies in Ada

2023 Memorial Day ceremonies will be hosted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 5134 OH-235, Ada. Lee Crouse is the guest speaker.

The annual event is co-hosted by the Foss Agin Meyer American Legion Post 185 and the Ream McElroy VFW Post 9381.

Safe Sitter® Essentials with CPR class offered

Students Learn Home Alone Safety & More

Ohio State University Extension, Hardin County will offer two Safe Sitter® classes for young teens, grades 4-8, June 8, 2023 from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and July 13 from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at the OSU Extension Office, 1021 West Lima Street, Suite 103, Kenton, OH 43326. Registration deadlines are June 2 for the June 8 class and July 7 for the July 13 class.

More than 775,000 young teens have graduated from the medically-accurate program which teaches how, why, and where injuries happen so they can be prevented. The cost of the course is $35 per teen and includes all materials, lunch, and snacks. Partial scholarships are available. Class size is limited to 8 participants.  Registration is guaranteed when the parent or guardian has completed all registration paperwork and payment has been received/

Summer fitness classes provided by Hardin Co. OSU Extension

Ohio State University Extension, Hardin County, will be partnering with local agencies to offer summer fitness programming for June and July. ZUMBA®, AquaZUMBA®, Family Yoga, and Yoga will be offered. 

CLASSES IN ADA

AQUAZumba® will be held at the Ada Municipal Swimming Pool, 426 S Park Drive, Ada. The class will be offered from 6:00-6-:45 p.m. on select dates (below).  Individuals may join the class late and proper pool attire must be worn. Cost is $5 per person per class. No pre-registration is required. Classes will be held on June 5, 7, 21, 28 and July 12, 17, 19, 26.

Family Yoga will be held at the Ada Public Library, 320 North Main Street, Ada. The class will be offered from 3-4 p.m. on select dates (below). There is no cost for the class and pre-registration is not required,  but please sign up for the summer reading program. Classes will be held on June 7, 14, 21, 28 and July 12, 19. Please bring a yoga mat and a water bottle.

Yoga will be held at the Ada Public Library, 320 North Main Street, Ada from 7:15-8 p.m. on select dates (below). There is no cost for the class and pre-registration is not required,  but please sign up for the summer reading program. Classes will be held on June 5, 13, 20, 27 and July 12, 18. Please bring a yoga mat and a water bottle.
