Many remember the library as a quiet place.  That is not the case today.

Jungle Island Zoo, free ice cream at Tommy Tire, Bluffton

Tommy Tire of Bluffton will hold a customer appreciation day on Friday, July 21, according to Tom Dotson, owner.

The event, at 319 N. Main St., Bluffton, includes homemade ice cream by Jay Lugibihl plus a visit by animals from Jungle Island Zoo of Delphos.

Events take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Please stop by and get some ice cream and see the animals from the Jungle Island Zoo," said Dotson.

Icon dog of the week - Prince

Meet Prince. Prince is a male Pomeranian mix. He is 7 years old. Prince is a special needs dog. He has a dislocated hip that was never fixed so he cannot put his back leg down. He also had to be shaved due to the condition of his coat.. He is playful and very sweet. He gets around like there is nothing wrong with him. Can you give Prince a forever home?

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.

Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

Women's soccer to play in Europe

Trip includes a Rhine River cruise

The Ohio Northern women's soccer team is set to depart for Europe on Friday, July 21, where it will compete in four countries during an 11-day preseason trip.

Northern will take on two teams in the first six days, before entering a 7-game tournament on the final day.

After arriving in Zurich, Switzerland, Northern will travel to Salzburg, Austria where the team will tour the city and visit the birthplace of Mozart.

Northern will cap the day off with its first contest as it takes on FC Bergheim at 3:30 pm.

The fourth day of the trip will feature a tour of Munich, Germany and a tour of Allianz Stadium, home of 1860 Munich and Bayern Munich Fussball Clubs.

ONU law college partners with another Ohio college

Notre Dame College students hoping to pursue a career in the legal field will have a faster path to completing their degrees thanks to a partnership with ONU's law college. Notre Dame College is located in South Euclid, Ohio.

The 3+3 Legal Education Admissions Program will allow students to complete their bachelor’s degree and juris doctorate degrees in six years instead of seven years.
 

Alger Memorial Fest Committee serves breakfast

The Alger Memorial Festival Committee is sponsoring a Country-Style breakfast on Saturday, August 5, from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m.
