Mark your calendar now for the Hardin County Precision Ag Field Day to be held Aug. 23 at Kellogg Farms, 17392 Township Road 50 near Forest.
Bill and Shane Kellogg have committed 305 acres to the Blanchard River Demonstration Farms Network in cooperation with Ohio Farm Bureau and USDA.
Existing edge of field research shows that placing nutrients below ground dramatically decreases potential for nutrient losses. This farm utilizes subsurface placement of nutrients using strip tillage techniques. Cost savings and yield benefits that can be achieved by improving nutrient efficiencies by subsurface nutrient placement are being measured.
That's Logan Williams performing on the trampoline

Flippin' over the 4th.
That's Logan Williams, 17, doing a series of backward and forward flips on a trampoline in his backyard on West North Avenue while brother Case, 7, waits his turn.
Truth is, the 4th is a rather quiet day in Ada. There's grilling outdoors, some family gatherings, and, when the sun sets, you'll hear fireworks long into the night shot from backyards.
Ada has no extravagant fireworks display lighting up the sky in a multitude of colors. And, there is no lake for sailing, kayaking, or waterskiing.
Every year on a Saturday near the 4th of July, the Ada Food Pantry prepares fixings for a traditional Independence Day meal--hotdogs or hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon, and corn on the cob.
This year, members of the Food Pantry served 27 households for a total of more than 80 people.
Pictured is Pantry board member Christopher Bowers assisting a patron.
The Saturday evening patriotic pops concert, always held near the Fourth of July, began with the Ada VFW Post 9381 Color Guard presenting the colors. The crowd stood, putting their hands over their heart, as Kirsten Osbun-Manley sang, with gusto, the "Star Spangled Banner."

On Saturday, July 8, Ada’s Gallery for the Arts, will host an open house complete with sweets and drinks to celebrate its 2nd birthday. The shop, opened in July of 2015, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Ruth Roider, owner of this unique gift shop and gallery for local artists, had always desired to support the local artists with a place to feature their talents.
The shop/gallery includes pottery, fabric art, folk art, colored pencil sketches, photography (in the form of framed art and greeting cards), wood craftsmanship and jewelry. Most items are for sale.
A sunny summer Sunday finds Korbyn, 5, and Jazzalyn, 8, Oglesbee selling lemonade at 50 cents a cup in front of 4 Seasons Drive Thru. To add to their profits, cookies were on sale, too, reduced from $1 each to 50 cents each. It didn't take long for the entrepreneurs to raise their first $20 for the day. One tenet of business: location, location, location...and they had that. A hot day helped, as well.
