Letter: Vote yes for our Library

Dear Icon Readers,

Having lived in Ada for 20 years, I can say with certainty, I never fully appreciated or realized the value and excellence of the Ada Public Library until about 5 years ago when our son was 3 years old.

We were taking a walk down Main Street and it was the annual ‘Kick Off to Summer Reading Program’ which included sponsoring groups who brought farm animals, the local police and fire departments, face painting, a book sale, a balloon artist and so much more.  On this serendipitous occasion, we signed up for Summer Reading and took our materials home to begin exploring what would be a central focus of our lives from that day, forward, literally.

Letter: Ada Public Library is the greatest!

Please support it on Nov. 5 by voting "yes"

The Ada Public Library is the greatest! I stop by at least once a week to update my movie selection and reading material.

Through the library's website adalibrary.org, I can easily order movies and books from over 100 other libraries, allowing me to get items that the Ada library doesn't own. Along with popular titles, it's surprising how many old and obscure films are available!

The library's recent renovation is well done with bright colors, additional space for activities (check out the children's area), a nice meeting room and convenient parking.

Letter: Vote for Ada Library Levy on Nov. 5

Icon viewers:
Ada's library serves the whole community. Walk in and you see happy kids running around, people getting books on every topic, and families participating in bingo, movie nights, and much more.

Circulation is increasing. Involvement is increasing. But funding from the state of Ohio is going down.

Letter: The library has helped my family learn, grow and explore

Icon viewers:

The library is where my kids and I made our first friends. We moved to Ada when my oldest was 18 months old and baby #2 was due any day. The library had (and still does) story time during the day for my little ones to start meeting and interacting with new people. It gave them the opportunity to make crafts and have fun. It allowed me to enjoy their excitement without having to sweep glitter out of my carpet. A win win for all of us.

Rediscovery of our Ada Public Library has been one of the unexpected benefits of retirement!

Thanks to the library’s Tech Support (nods to Max and now Chloe) we are now able and comfortable with accessing, downloading and reading eBooks on both Kindle (Jane) and our iPad (Rich).  We are now able to take select books along on trips with only the added weight of the Kindle and iPad.
