Ada girls fall

ADA – Host Ada lost its girls soccer home opener to county rival Kenton Wednesday evening, 8-0.

The Lady Bulldogs (1-1) host Marion Harding Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

Mustangs win NWC golf meet

LIMA – Allen East won a three-team Northwest Conference golf match Wednesday in a tiebreaker at Colonial Golf Club.

 

AE and Columbus Grove tied with 198 strokes, but the Mustangs won when their fifth man shot 56 compared to 57 by CG. Ada finished third with 249 strokes.

 

Brevin Sizemore led the Bulldogs with a score of 55. Teammate Alex Morgan was close behind with a total of 57. Austin Amburgey carded a 68 while Rob Allison posted a 69.

 

Ethan Hull shot 71 and Jake Colwell added a total of 76.

 

Women's Cross Country looks for 16th consecutive upper-division OAC finish

The Ohio Northern women's cross country team will look to post its 16th consecutive upper division Ohio Athletic Conference in 2017 under 9th-year head coach Jason Maus.

The Polar Bears finished fourth in the OAC in 2016 after finishing the season with a 49-49 record.

"Our women have improved quite a bit," said head coach Jason Maus. "We think we may be able to surprise some people this season. Our girls worked hard during the offseason and really put in the time to get better."

Maus and his staff welcome back nine letterwinners in 2017, led by senior OAC Champion Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes).

Lady Bulldogs sweep Rams

McGUFFEY - The visiting Ada volleyball team swept rival Upper Scioto Valley three straight in a non-league match Tuesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-1 with the 25-12, 25-9, 25-8 victory over the Rams.

Ada senior Melina Woods knocked down 25 kills to surpass 980 for her career. Senior setter Maddie Gossard dished out 19 assists and sophomore Sidney Gossard added 14 assists.

The Lady Bulldogs host powerhouse Coldwater Thursday evening. Ada is 2-1 at home this season and will be playing its fifth match in six days.

The votes are in...and Ada High School cheerleaders are the winners.

Trends on Main, Findlay, recently held a contest - and Icon viewers read about it last week.

The contest involved photos of several area schools' cheerleaders dressed in Trends on Main prom and homecoming dresses. An online vote for the most favorite group followed and Ada cheerleaders earned the most votes.

The cheerleaders will now be featured on a billboard promoting the Findlay retail shop.

Evans leads Ada runners at BL opener

BELLEFONTAINE - The Ada cross country teams opened their 2017 season at the Ben Logan Early Bird Invitational meet Tuesday evening.

 

The Bulldog boys finished seventh out of nine teams, while the Ada girls came in eighth. Jonathan Alder won the boys meet.

 

Sophomore Reece Evans posted the best Ada finish with a time of 20:33.9 over the 3.1-mile course. Teammate Hunter Wells ended up with a time of 21:04.3.
