Village officials address water customers' questions: Yes, village is in compliance

Worried about Ada's water quality? Don't worry.

Village of Ada officials assures water customers that Ada's water is in compliance with the regulations requred by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

An announcement from the village addresses lead and copper and the continual testing of its drinking water.

Ada CIC will hear about university nursing activities in the community

Ada's Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) will get an update on the Ohio Northern University nursing program during its noon meeting on Wednesday in McIntosh Center.

Tina Liebrecht, assistant professor of nursing, will provide details on nursing students' activities in Ada.

The CIC is currently in its 2016 membership phase. Annual membership dues are $25. The organization meets monthly on the third Wednesday of each month. 

It's subcommittees are Industrial, Water Resource Plan, Community and Commercial. The 2016 CIC president is Jamie Hall. Other offers are Jim Meyer, vice president, Eileen Peterman, secretary and Angela Polachek, treasurer.

Shots include the Presbyterian Church silhouetted against the evening sky, as well as the wind turbines on the west side of town. The Ada Theatre was all lit up for Saturday evening's show.

It might have been 14 degrees Fahrenheit outside, but the cold weather was apparently not enough to keep folks away from the yummy Italian food at Viva Maria's or the faithful from Saturday evening Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes.

2016 Hardin Leadership Class will form soon

Participants for the twenty-fourth annual Hardin Leadership class, a program designed for the development of informed and effective community leaders, are being recruited now until March 4. 

Hardin Leadership is sponsored and conducted by the Hardin Leadership Steering
Committee. Nine monthly sessions will focus on the knowledge/skills required by today's community leader, such as team building, public speaking, and marketing.

This year’s program will be offered in morning sessions on the second Thursdays, March through November except for the third Thursday in September because of the Hardin County Fair.

4th to 8th grade school spelling bee Feb. 15

How's your spelling?

Ada fourth through eighth graders are preping for this year's spelling bee. It's at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the school auditorium.

Here are the contestants:

8th grade: Three of these seven students who are taking a tie-breaker spelling test:

7th grade: Ryan, Jacob, Megan (Alt: Leona)
