Six Ada CIC members' terms expire at year's end

Six Ada Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) trustee terms expire on Dec. 31, according to Angela Polachek, administrative assistant for the Village of Ada.

The December CIC meeting is at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 17, in McIntosh Center at Ohio Northern Univeristy. Trustees will be voted upon at the meeting.

Those trustees are Beth Fenton, Jimmy Wilson, Dick Lawrence, Norm Rex, Don Traxler and Polachek.  The CIC meets monthly.

Deb Curlis and Dave Retterer make up the nominating committee.

Don't forget ReStore's Saturday afternoon benefit auction

Don't forget the ReStore auction to benefit the Beacon Fund. The auction is Saturday, Dec. 13.

Eighty items will be auctioned; proceeds will help people with utility shutoffs, evictions, and other crises. The auction begins at 5 p.m.; doors open at 4 p.m. to view items.

Ada students enjoy an "open lunch" period on Thursday

Ada students have an open lunch opportunity on Thursday. Here's how it works:

Open lunch for students in grades 9-12 will begin at 11:40 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. All students must exit the building through the doors at Door 17 (end of high school hallway).

Students will be required to sign out at this location. Dismissal will be staggered in an effort to make the sign-out process more efficient (Juniors/ Seniors called at 11:30 a.m., Sophomores 11:35 a.m. Freshman 11:40 a.m..

Hardin County farmers have two chances to hear about Farm Bill updates

Two Farm Bill Update meetings have been scheduled for Hardin County farmers to help them understand their options for the new Food, Farm and Jobs Bill that was passed with the Agricultural Act of 2014.  Both meetings will present the same content, but will be held on two different days.  The first meeting will be held Thursday, December 18 and the second meeting will be held Wednesday, January 7.  Both meetings will be from 6:30-9:00 pm in Veterans’ Hall at the Hardin County Courthouse, One Courthouse Square, Kenton.

BGSU Bikes for Tikes will stop overnight in Ada next spring

Mark April 18, 2015, on your calendar. That's when lots and lots of bicyclists from Bowling Green State University will tool through Ada.

The stop in Ada is part of Bikes for Tikes, which is als part of BGSU’s Dance Marathon (DM).

The organization, run by students, raises money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The BGSU organization raises funds specifically for Mercy’s Children’s Hospital, Toledo.

The Dance Marathon is a 32-hour event in conjunction with Bikes for Tikes.

Holiday shop local event during Ridgemont-Ada basketball game Dec. 16

The Ridgemont High School FFA is hosting a holiday shop local event Tuesday, Dec.16,  in the cafeteria during Ridgemont boys' first home basketball game against the Ada Bulldogs.

Ridgemont FFA is currently looking for local businesses to participate in the shop local event to enhance economics in Hardin County and provide a venue to connect consumers with local businesses.

Any business in Hardin County can participate by paying a $20 table fee. All proceeds will support Ridgemont’s 2015 Washington, D.C. trip. Businesses from Hardin County can advertise and sell items at the event to fill customer’s holiday gift giving lists.
