University alums receive awards at OPA conference

Alumni from Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy received five awards and several appointments during the 137th Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) Annual Conference and Trade Show in Columbus, Ohio, from April 17-19.

ONU celebrates July 4th with Lima Symphony "Patriotic Pops" concert on the lawn

The Lima Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the Fourth of July with a “Patriotic Pops” concert on the campus of Ohio Northern University. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will take place on the sculpture mall east of McIntosh Center between Presser and Weber Halls. This will be a fun filled family event exploding with patriotic music and a tribute to our armed services. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

Ohio Northern University named one of nation’s best ‘value-added’ universities

Ohio Northern University is one of the nation’s best universities in terms of “value-added,” and fourth in the state of Ohio, according to a new report published by the Brookings Institution.

The report draws on government and private sources to analyze colleges and universities in terms of “the difference between actual alumni outcomes (like salaries) and the outcomes one would expect given a student’s characteristics and type of institution.” The study is designed to assess how well colleges and universities contribute to their graduates’ economic success.

University honors student leaders, organizations

Ohio Northern University celebrated ONU student leaders and their accomplishments during the President’s Leadership Dessert on April 29.

The DeBow Freed Awards for Outstanding Leadership as an Undergraduate Student were presented to one male and one female from each year on campus. Students are nominated for the award in recognition of their positive leadership in the campus community. They receive a monetary award, and their names are added to a plaque in McIntosh Center.

First-year awards went to Ashley Mast, a biology major from Apple Creek, Ohio, and Kenneth Barga, a pharmacy major from Burkettsville, Ohio.

Society for Clinical Pathology National Student Honor Awards to two ONU students

Two Ohio Northern University students in the West Central Ohio Medical Laboratory Science (WCOMLS) program have received the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) National Student Honor Award.

Emily Fanello, a senior medical laboratory science major from Medina, Ohio, and Molly Wukusick, a senior medical laboratory major from Waynesfield, Ohio, will be presented with a certificate from the ASCP at a WCOMLS graduation ceremony on May 8.

University to establish community mobile health clinic to provide health care in Hardin County

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy has been awarded a Health Resources and Services Administration grant to establish a multidisciplinary rural mobile clinic to provide health care for residents of Hardin County, Ohio.

The grant, totaling, $572,973 over three years, will fund an innovative model that will employ a community mobile clinic using a multidisciplinary team of ONU faculty and students and interdisciplinary health care specialists under the supervision of licensed professionals to deliver educational outreach and health care services.
