Village asking for community assistance in confidential income survey

Ada village officials are asking for residents to assist in a program that many offset the cost of an upcoming improvement project.

The Village Voice addresses the issue, and the Voice follows:

The Village is considering a number of capital improvement projects for the water and sewer systems in the Village.

These projects will enhance the water quality, in supply, treatment and distribution for the water utility system users.

Village Voice: Brush pick up/chipping service on April 4

Have the winds of this winter helped ‘trim’ a few of your trees?
Do you need to have some limbs picked up and chipped? Now is your chance.

The village will conduct a monthly service of brush pick up/chipping and pick up on Monday, April 4.

One of the goals of brush chipping and pickup is to keep the tree lawn areas of the Village clear of debris, so that debris litter does not enter the storm sewer system.

Village Voice: Ready to think about summer employment at the Ada Pool?

Do you – need a job this summer, or do you know someone who does?

Enjoy working with people and being outside during the summer months?

Have 10-20 hours a week available? Have experience managing teens and young adults? Are you – hard working and responsible? Fun-loving and respectful?

If this sounds like you and whether it is for a little extra spending cash, saving for college, or the job experience, the Ada Village Pool may be the place for you! We would love to consider you for employment at the Ada Pool this summer!

Village Voice: Heart health and air pollution

February is American Heart Month, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). That designation may not be cause for a large bouquet of flowers to be sent your way on Valentine’s Day, but some of the causes of heart disease are worth noting when considering our quality of life in Ada.

Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the U.S., according to CDC statistics. While we have all heard the medical reports that diet and exercise may help reduce the risk of heart disease, we don’t often hear about the impact that breathing our air has on our hearts.

Village Voice: Here's what you need to know about filing 2015 Ada income tax

It's tax season and the Village of Ada utilizes the services of Central Collection Agency (CCA), Division of Taxation, for municipal income tax issues.

If taxpayers have filed municipal taxes in years past, you are may be accustomed to receiving a tax package, including tax forms, from CCA each January.

In the interest of reducing costs, CCA will no longer mail forms directly to you. You may receive an informational postcard in the mail from CCA, explaining the change to you.

The Village/Water office now has copies of the 2015 tax forms available. We will also be providing the Ada Public Library with a limited number of forms.

Village Voice: Sidewalks + Ice + Cold Temps = What do I do?

While some people may look forward to snow covered trees and lawns, many of us dread icy sidewalks once the temperatures sink lower and lower.

Ada Codified Ordinance 521.06 does require walks to be kept free from snow and ice, by either the owner or the occupant of the property.

Many people start applying rock salt at the first sign of precipitation and cold temperatures. Rock salt, which is primarily sodium chloride, tends to be on the less expensive side of deicers. However, rock salt can harm pets, plants, grass, and trees.

Rock salt can also cause the sidewalks to begin breaking down, depending on the composition of the concrete used during construction.
