Fewer bumps in the road on the way

Here's the summer street repair program

For Ada travelers, there will be fewer bumps in the road (if only life were that way).

Bluffton Paving Company will set up shop on Wednesday to pave several streets. Four areas of roadway will be milled, then repaved.

There will be no parking posted from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on the soon-to-be improved streets. The work will be accomplished in only three days, weather permitting.

Ada doesn't take a vacation in June or July.

There are many events on the Hometown Happenings Icon calendar in the next 61 days.

The events range from Vacation Bible Schools, summer reading activities at the library, Fireside Friday's at The Inn at ONU and an Ada High School alumni banquet.

Darlene Bowers creates Hometown Happenings. The calendar is printer friendly and ready to be posted on your refrigerator or bulletin board.

Icon dog of the week - Sweetie

The Icon dog of the week is Sweetie, She is a 4 month old female chihuahua mix. She weighs about 5 pounds. Sweetie is looking for her forever home.

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.

Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.
