Ada's chance to improve its tennis game

17 years later those courts need resufacing

Is this phrase a 1949 movie title, a 1998 song lyric, the public tennis courts in Ada, or all of the above. Yup, all of the above.

The four tennis courts in Ada need resurfacing after 17 years because the cracks in the courts are getting bigger...and green grass grows there.

Ada has an opportunity to do something about the condition of the courts by applying for a state grant.

Meet Jessie - Icon dog of the week

This is Jessie, a 1 year old female terrier mix. She weighs 14 pounds. Can you provide a forever home for Jessie?

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.

Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.

Composer workshop is Wednesday

ONU's composer workshop is slated for 8 pm on Wednesday in Presser Hall. The event is free and open to the public. The program will feature music written by ONU students.

World premiere and violin soloists featured May 6

The ONU Department of Music will present the Ohio Northern Symphony: “Heroes: Beethoven’s Eroica” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. 

Music Director Travis Jürgens will conduct this season finale, which features Beethoven’s monumental “Eroica Symphony” (Symphony No. 3, op. 55 in E♭ major), a world premiere titled “Perpetua” by Ohio composer Kurt Doles, and up-and-coming violinists from Romania. Radu Kis will perform the finale of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, and Maria Marica will play the finale of the Bruch G minor Violin Concerto.
