Texas Tech University law professor to discuss presidential advisors’ role

Dean’s Lecture Series Nov. 10

Professor William R. Casto of Texas Tech University will present “Advising Presidents: Private Advice and Public Advocacy” at noon on Thursday, Nov. 10, in the large moot courtroom at the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law. The talk, which is part of the Dean’s Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.

Women L.E.A.D. features Andrea Adams-Miller, Los Angeles PR and talent agency owner, as its featured speaker, Friday, Nov. 18, at a banquet luncheon at The Inn at ONU. The program is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

ONU men picked to finished 5th in OAC

The Ohio Northern men's basketball team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2016-17 Ohio Athletic Conference coaches poll, voted on by league coaches. 

Northern received 50 points in the poll and is seeking its second consecutive upper division finish under first-year head coach Rich Bensman.

John Carroll and Marietta were selected to finish tied for first in the conference with 77 points and five first place votes each, while the Baldwin Wallace was picked to finish third with 60 points.

Bensman returns six players with starting experience and looks to build on a 9-9 record in the OAC a year ago.

ONU recognizes Tonya J. Hunter, Chester Kaczor for professional, community feats with young alumni awards

Ohio Northern University alumni Tonya J. Hunter and Chester Kaczor are the latest recipients of the William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award from their alma mater. The award was established by the ONU Alumni Association to honor individuals who have graduated from the University in the last 15 years and who demonstrate passion and loyalty toward their profession, community and alma mater.

13th annual remembrance service planned Dec. 10

Holidays, filled with memories, can be difficult for those who have lost loved ones.

Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada will hold its 13th annual remembrance service at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, at its Ada chapel, 311 E. Lima Ave., according to Bruce Neely.

Persons attending may arrive anytime between 2 and 3 p.m. Upon arrival, a personalized ornament will be given to the family to place on a large Christmas tree. It will be in memory of someone from the family attending the service.

A short memorial service will take place at 3 p.m.  A time of sharing and light refreshments will follow.
