Garbig tops in classroom and on the soccer field

Senior Chris Garbig (Wilder, Ky./Highlands) has been named a Second Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America for his efforts on the field and in the classroom during the 2017 season.

The senior earned his first career CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition.

Garbig, a senior Accounting major from Wilder, Ky., added to his impressive list of academic accomplishments. 

He is also a 3-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, a 2-time Ohio Soccer Coaches Association Academic All-Ohio awardee and a 2016 Second Team National Soccer Coaches Association of America (United Soccer Coaches) Scholar All-American.

The senior appeared in 83 contests during his career, starting in 81 games. He has nine career goals and 13 career assists for the Polar Bears.

Ohio Northern wrapped up its 2017 campaign in the quarterfinal round of the OAC Tournament and posted its 12th consecutive winning season under 20th-year head coach Brent Ridenour.
